Natural Flow Days
On natural flow days, the power companies that control the hydro generation on these rivers stop diverting water to their power stations. This extra flow of water down a river makes for a seriously exciting ride and gives you a taste of how awesome these rivers used to be.
The power companies set the dates for natural flow releases in consultation with Whitewater NZ.
